About this trial

Understanding hypertension and heart health

Cardiovascular disease (CVD), which includes heart disease, stroke, and blood vessel disorders, remains one of Australia's most significant health challenges. 1 in 6 Australians live with CVD, and it accounts for 1 in 4 deaths nationally, around 120 every day. For many people, managing blood pressure with standard medications isn't enough to adequately reduce that risk.

This trial is evaluating an investigational medication that may help reduce the risk of serious heart events, including heart attack, stroke, cardiovascular death, and heart failure, in people whose hypertension remains uncontrolled despite taking at least two blood pressure medications. Researchers will also monitor blood pressure changes, kidney health, and other important health measures throughout the trial.
The investigational medication is an add-on therapy; participants who currently take blood pressure medications will continue their existing treatment throughout the trial. There is a 50% chance of receiving the investigational medication or a placebo.
